Workshop Content

Lecture 01. In depth Principles

A deep dive into principles of animation. not from the perspective of motion graphics but animation as a whole
A look at a collection of tools and techniques that gives students the power to create and organise tasks and files fast these tools include plugins like: 01. overlord
02. motion tools
03. ease copy we will also look at the value graph editor, revise Masking with all its types and creating a bette reunderstand of how expressions work
An extensive dive into the power of shape layers and everything they have to offer with examples on how build and create complex igs and shapes within one layer. we all also touch on shape morphing and why it breaks most of the time and how to get around that
Task Review and in session excercises
We’ll be looking at making 3D looking objects by building and looping shape layers and rigging them with simple code. We will also fake the 3D look manually using path animation. and we will look at how to create isomet ric looks using the SSR technique
We’ll be looking at the native after effects 3D tool including cameras, lights, and renderers we will also touch on how to build 3D objects by wrapping layers. We will also have a different look at Isometric scenes but this time with actual 3D shapes and adjusting the camera to reach the desired look
This lecture will include an introduction to rigging with a quick touch on IK and FK and when to use each. Then we’ll dive deep into RubberHose rigging tool, how to use its presets and how to create and save our own custom limbs
This lecture will teach the students the ability to look at a live action reference and break it down to extract the needed information and poses and then going into after effects to apply this data by block- ing out the animation and then polishing it using keyframes and the value graph
We will look at how to rig an advanced character and
the full process to do so, start from the Illustrator file
and how to simplify and adjust my artwork. all the
way to the different techniques in DuiK and joysticks
& Sliders.

Task Review and in session exercise.

This lecture we will learn the ability to look at a live
action reference and break it down to extract the
needed information and poses and then going into
after effects to apply this data by blocking out the
animation and then polishing it using keyframes and
the value graph
Similar to the last lecture but with the run cycle. This
time however I’ll touch on how to look at that real
isitc reference and exaggerating or pushing the ani
mation to make it cartoony with respect to timing
and posing
We will be discussing the features of the face. includ ing mouth shapes, eye movement in relation to the face, eye sizes etc. And then creating our first face acting with lip sync shot
This will be a simple lecture to act as a checkpoint. all this lecture includes is looking at references from some of the best motion designers out there and breaking down those projects. in terms of transitions, animation, storytelling to open your minds to the possibilties of using the tools and skills we learned all across the course
